Bogey's Bunker

Meowdy! I joined the Crowley Cats' family on March 1, 1998. Before then, I had been living at a country club. I wasn't a club member, so it wasn't an easy life. There was a lot of competition fur food and shelter from other cats that lived on the golf course.

I usually ate scraps from the dumpster and slept in the metal shed with the golf carts. If the door was shut, I crawled through a hole. One morning, as I ran into the building, the sharp metal scraped the top of my head. It was very painful, but I didn't have time to feel sorry fur myself. There were some men in the shed and one of them was complaining about a cat that had been sleeping in his golf cart. I was sure he meant me, so I hid under a different one and tried to make myself invisible.

In a few minutes, I heard a different voice say, "There's a black cat under my golf cart. Is this the one you've been talking about?" "Yes, George" said the first fellow, "and if someone doesn't take it home with them, I'm going to shoot it!"

It must have been my lucky day, because George took me home with him. He even shares his favorite chair with me, now that I call him "PawPaw."

His wife (now known as "Meowmie") didn't seem eager to adopt another cat, but she changed her mind when she heard my story. The next day, she took me to see their veterinarian, so he could doctor my head. At least that's why I thought we were going. Once we got there, the vet gave me a complete examination and several vaccinations. He also said if I could stay overnight, he could purrform an operation to prevent me from having kittens. That was fine with me!

The right thing to do!

Meowmie picked me up the next morning and took me back to the ranch. She turned the sun porch into a comfurtable recovery room. I had a good view from the windows and into the den through the sliding glass door. When the other Crowley Cats were in the house, they would stare at me through this door. Sometimes they would hiss at me and make angry gestures. One evening, Dad accidentally left the door open just enough that I could squeeze through it. When I ran into the den, Dobbin, Midnight, & Shibui all fled to the next room and hid under a table.

I don't know why they were scared of me, since I was much smaller than any of them. Meowmie said they were just jealous and that they'd get over it, in time. When I was able to go outside, I followed Midnight around the yard, imitating his every move. He acted like he wanted to play with me, but he always ran up a tree when I chased him. One day, he stopped in his tracks, turned around, and told me to behave myself. After that, I began to respect Midnight and we became good friends. I sure do miss him, since he went to Rainbow Bridge.

Since Dobbin and Shibui were both older kitties, I think they had furgotten how to play. Most of the time, Dobbin ignored me, but she's friendlier now. Fur a long time, Shibui growled and hissed everytime she saw me. She even claimed that I was trying to put a hex on her! Frenchie came to live with us on Easter Sunday in 2000. He is furry friendly, but at first I didn't feel comfortable when he was in the same room with me. The funny thing is, Shibui trusted him immediately. Now, Frenchie and I are good buddies; we enjoy playing games and hunting together. We share the sun porch, too. In October 2001, an orange tabby cat moved in with us. Clancy got off on the wrong paw with Frenchie, when he attacked him from the rear. Shibui was the only one who could control him, so she was in charge of teaching him manners. He was a pretty quick learner, but sometimes he furgets the Golden Rule.

Shibui was over seventeen years old when she went to Rainbow Bridge on October 27, 2003. We knew she wouldn't live furever, but we were furry shocked when she left us so suddenly. A service for her was held in CLAW Rainbow Chapel. When it was over, we received purrmission to add it to the special tribute we made fur her.

A brave little Tortie moved in with us on January 17, 2004. We think Shibui had a paw in Brindle's rescue that day. Although Brindle doesn't look a thing like Shibui, she sounds like a Siamese when she sings! And she makes herself comfortable in all of Shibui's favorite indoor spots.

After Shibui made her final journey, my siblings decided that I should follow in her pawprints at CLAW. I joined the organization in November 2003 and purrticipated in activities until it closed in the fall of 2005. Please visit my CLAW page to learn more.

Brindle and I are charter memfurs of Bitsy's Belles, club organized in honor of Queen Bitsy. Before Bitsy went to Rainbow Bridge, my sisters and I were all memfurs of her Circle of Charms, and we enjoyed visiting her castle many times.

My PIC, Mull
Mulligan Stu Richard

clearCAD medalI met my "Purrtner in Crime," Mulligan Stu Richard, in Scrappy's forum. Mull was also born on a golf course, so naturally we have a lot in common. We both celebrate our birthdays on April Fool's Day! His family doesn't always appreciate his mischevious antics. They've even talked about sending him to outer space. If they do, I want to go with him! We have fun wherefur we roam! Mull and I are Co-Captains in the BFCC CAD (Cats Against D*gs)Aerial Division. Just wait until you see his dive-bombing techniques!

Bogey's flagclearBesides chatting with each other, Scrappy's forum friends had virtual parties, picnics, and parades. Cleo, a furry wise and talented cat, made this flag for me to carry in my first parade on July 4, 1998!

For several years, I represented our family in the BFCC/CLAW Halloween Costume Contest. I was surprised and honored to receive some prizes! Please click here to visit my Halloween Page and see my costumes and awards.

Once my brofur Frenchie took me on a hunt sponsored by Tomzrule. I'm furry proud of the award I received on that occassion:
Bogey's Award

Thanks fur visiting. I hope you'll come back soon! You may click here to purruse the other pages in Scrappy's Photo Album & Scrap Book. If you do, you'll see that another kitty has joined our family! Like me, Ebony is a black cat; however, he is younger than I and not as considerate of his elders as he should be!!!
