My Victorian Journal

I joined CLAW Journal Society in April 1999, when it was led by its founder, Noleani Misty "BabyCat" Milliken. At the time, BabyCat and I were editing a Memory Book for the Older Cats Society. She encouraged me to begin making entries in my journal, even if I was unable to put it online immediately. Because I am also a member of the Victorian Cats Society, I wanted to create a journal similar to the ones that were popular during the late 19th century. The Victorians filled their journals not only with their thoughts and observations, but with photographs and memorabilia. My journal begins with a summer project that BabyCat suggested. Following her guidelines, it consists of seven chapters:

  •  Coming Home

  •  My Name

  •  Current Events

  •  Special Places & Favorite Things

  •  All About Me

  •  My Adventures

  •  Keepsakes & Momentoes
  • If only I could write as spontaneously as BabyCat, I might have completed my journal before she went to the Rainbow Bridge. I regret that I didn't have an opportunity to show it to her. Even so, I feel that she is looking over my shoulder now, guiding my paw as I make each entry.

When the CLAW clubhouse closed on August 31, 2000, the Journal Society and The Literature and Poetry Society merged. Under the banners of Follow and Catuary, The Eloquent Cat Society continued to encourage members to explore their interests in journaling, poetry, reading, and writing. The Journal Society, now led by Rambley-Bambley Milliken and is once again affiliated with CLAW.
