Strangely enough, my humans immediately knew my name. "Shibui" is a Japanese word that means the ultimate in beauty. Even in my pitiful condition, they realized that I was "Shibui." In this photo, taken shortly after I arrived, I look much older than I do now. I certainly didn't look like a candidate for a beauty contest, did I?

My name is pronounced "Shi-boo" with the accent on the last sylable. I do not answer to any nicknames, although Meowmie occassionally calls me "her little Booey." This began when one of our v*ts assistants pronounced my name with three sylables.
